Pre-Transport Guidelines: Preparing Your Boat for Safe Hauling

Ensure a smooth and secure transport by following these essential preparation steps before your boat is hauled.

ADDITIONAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR SAILBOATS

Remove radar, rigging, winches, wind indicators, and lights from the mast. Do not secure the mast to the boat, as there is a space on our hydraulic trailer suitable to transport the mast appropriately. Remove all life lines, stanchions, box, and stern pulpits so that the boat remains at a safe overland transporting height.

ADDITIONAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR POWERBOATS

Remove all propellers, flag masts, lights, outriggers, antennae, windshields, etc. and secure them in the vessel or transport them separately. Remove all lights, wheels, masts, and windshields that protrude over the bridge, if shipping with the flying bridge on. Remove plexiglas and pack below with a cargo blanket. Have a cradle built for the bridge to be shipped in, if transporting the vessel without the flying bridge on. Ensure that every point touching the deck or rails is sufficiently padded. Remove all electronics and valuable items from the bridge, pack them securely and store below.

Pre-Transport Checklist

Remember, in order to transport your marine equipment quickly and efficiently, we request that you complete the checklist prior to the agreed delivery time and date. Make sure to double check the height of your vessel while it’s blocked so that we can complete your service request. There will be an additional fee if we need to prepare your boat for transport. Please plan to arrive 30 minutes to 1 hour prior to the delivery time to make sure all of your items are safely secured and ready for transport.

Keep in mind…

Our drivers are experienced, dependable boat transporters who will take the utmost care to deliver your boat in the best condition. However, we cannot be held responsible for pre-existing structural flaws or damage incurred outside of transporting operation. Please be sure that your boat is sufficiently sound and prepared for overland transportation.

If your vessel or Marine Equipment is being loaded from a marina, please make arrangements with them. Have them be aware of our planned arrival time, ensure the vessel or items to pick up are accessible and ready-to-go. Co-ordinate any equipment such as a travel lift, crane, yard helpers or extra labour that is needed to assist in loading. Our equipment is “self-loading” for the most part, but we still require help for some of the more complex operations.
